Our instructor, Jeff Colburn has become a certified John Maxwell coach, teacher, trainer, and speaker. This is in preparation for a new, soon to be announced program that Team Caveo will be offering to the local community.

Team Caveo launches Computer Technician course

Sep 2014 - 16 Students are part of the new Computer Technician course.  These students will spend the next 16 weeks learning to build and troubleshoot personal computers as they prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification.

Team Caveo partners with TSG to offer IT training to Southeast DC

Sep 2014 - Team Caveo has entered into a partnership with TSG to offer IT training to the residents of Southeast Washington DC's Ward 8.  A region that suffers a 17% unemployment rate.  TSG already has a proven record of success helping residents in that region to transition to a career in construction.  Through this partnership, they will be able to expand their training portfolio to include IT.  TSG is founded by former Washington Redskin Darrell Green and Ray Douaire.

Team Caveo becomes a Cisco Networking Academy

Sep 2014 - Team Caveo has become a Cisco Networking Academy.  Team Caveo is now offer the official Cisco curriculum to those students pursuing the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.

Sep 2014 - Team Caveo has become a CompTIA Authorized Academy.  Threw this partnership, Team Caveo has access to course development resources and are able to provide exams at a discounted rate.  The Computer Technician course prepares students for the CompTIA A+ certification.

Aug 2014 - Herman Williams will be joining Frederick, MD based Swift Systems; an IT services provider serving both commercial and government customers.  This is an amazing opportunity for Herman as Swift Systems was recently voted "Best Place to work in Frederick."

Team Caveo graduate starts career at National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Aug 2014 - Charles Murrell was offered a position with Dynanet Corporation.  He will work with the IBM team implementing new network equipment into the new NIH data center.

Jun 2014 - Jared Lathrop has been offered a 60-day internship at NewTeq Computer Services.  Jared will provide IT support services to NewTeq's clients.  After the 60-day period, NewTeq will bring Jared on as an employee.

Jun 2014 - Jared Lathrop successfully completed the Team Caveo Basic Network Foundation course and earned his Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification.  Jared will now pursue his CompTIA A+ certification.

Team Caveo announces the "Pay It Forward" program.

May 2014 - Team Caveo program graduates will volunteer their time and newly acquired skills to assist the local community.  Program graduates may be selected to become Team Caveo Mentors and be asked to assist with future students.  All program graduates will be given the opportunity to assist churches and other non-profit organizations in the local community with their Information Technology needs.  "Team Caveo is all about empowering the local community.  This is something our students are excited about doing and it only makes sense for them to use what they learned to help the community around them." - Jeff Colburn, Executive Director.

Swift Systems donates network equipment to Team Caveo.

Jan 2014 - Frederick, Maryland based Swift Systems donated much needed Cisco Systems networking equipment to support the Basic Network Foundation Training Course.  Through Swift Systems generous donation, Team Caveo may now operate two concurrent training courses.  It is by the support of the local IT community that will make these programs successful.

Team Caveo announces new Help Desk training track.

Jan 2014 - Team Caveo will launch a new training program that will prepare students for careers as Help Desk technicians.  The course will cover PC installation and repair, Operating Systems, and basic networking.  Following the Team Caveo training model, this program will be a 16-week course consisting of a mix of lecture and practical exercises.  Program graduates will be prepared for the CompTIA A+ certification.  "Even with more services moving to the cloud, there will always be a need for the PC technician.  And this is a great avenue for those wishing to enter the industry." - Jeff Colburn, Executive Director.

Team Caveo expands program to military veterans.

Dec 2013 - Team Caveo is working with the Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) to offer the IT training program to military veterans.  FCWS has referred veterans to Caveo that are currently unemployed.  Through this program, students will be provided the knowledge to configure network devices and earn a Cisco certification.  Once certified, Team Caveo will assist those who served this nation to reenter the civilian workforce.  Program is scheduled to start in early December. 

Team Caveo performs a system audit for the Frederick Rescue Mission.

Nov 2013 - By the request of the Frederick Rescue Mission's Executive Director Arnold Farlow, Team Caveo conducted an audit of the Mission's current system infrastructure.  Team Caveo engineers Jeff Colburn, Jeff Clark, Jamie Colburn, and Marc Colburn volunteered their time to interview Arnold regarding his concerns with the current system and his requirements for the near future.  Based on this information and a survey of the current system, Team Caveo was able to propose a solution that would improve the system and make it more cost efficient. 

Team Caveo develops database for the Frederick Rescue Mission's Changed Life Program.

Oct 2013 - The Frederick Rescue Mission may have forty residents residing in the Beacon House at any one time, with men entering and leaving throughout the year.  Tracking the progress of those participating in the 12-month Changed Life Program was becoming a challenge.  Team Caveo software developer Jeff Clark worked closely with case manager Marty Hogan to identify the information the Mission tracks for each resident using various spreadsheets.  Provided with the spreadsheets, Jeff volunteered his time to correlate this information and developed a common database.  With this database, the Mission staff now has a single location to review and update information.

Oct 2013 - Based on the success of the first class, Caveo will offer a second class to the residents at Frederick Rescue Mission.  The course will follow the same curriculum as the first class, training students on the fundamental knowledge and skills required to enter the IT work force as network technicians.

Marc Colburn joins Team Caveo.

Oct 2013 - Marc will join Team Caveo as an assistant instructor.  He demonstrated his mastery of the course material by scoring above a 90 on his certification exams and was instrumental in the success of the other two program graduates.  Marc will volunteer his time to instruct students on Saturday and help develop the course material.

Program graduate joins the IT work force.

Sep 2013 - Recent program graduate Marc Colburn was offered his first position in the Information Technology industry.  18-year old Marc graduated high school while part of the Team Caveo program.  He earned his Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification in September and was offered a position with SkyLine Technology Solutions a few weeks later.  Marc will work in their Network Operations Center.  Marc is a model example for the potential of this program.  Marc entered the program without any previous IT experience and now has started a career in this field.

Sep 2013 - Team Caveo graduated three students from their pilot training program at the Frederick Rescue Mission in August.  Marc Colburn became a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Victor Parks became a Cisco Certified Entry Technician (CCENT), and Dan McEwen became a Cisco Certified Technician (CCT).

Team Caveo partners with The Frederick Rescue Mission to provide IT job skills to residents of the Mission's Changed Lives program.

April 2013 - Residents of The Frederick Rescue Mission's 12-month Changed Lives program are now being offered the opportunity to learn computer networking skills.  Team Caveo founder Jeff Colburn has developed a 16-week training course that will provide students with basic skills to configure and operate Local Area Network equipment.  With a combination of lecture, practical exercises, and self study; students will be prepared for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam.  

With the generous donations of laptops and network hardware, Team Caveo was able to start the course on April 6, 2013.
